September 30 - October 4, 1998

We are live from the Press Office at WEG in Rome.  Trenna, Nancy and Heather flew in fine and found me in the press room.  Thank goodness, I met Ken Acebal's parents at the Paris airport and they guided me from the airport to the train to a cab to the hotel.  

Met Liz Hopps and Neil and Elymas -- they are fine.  Uwe Sauer, the coach, agreed that Elymas has a lovely piaffe --what a joy.  He is fit and happy as is Liz.  Neil brought Elymas favorite horse treats - Stud Muffins from Canada.

All horses from the US and Canada passed the vet jog -- part yesterday and part today.

Then I met Klaus Balkenhol and will go to the German warmup this afternoon.  The draw for starting position is at 2:30.  Will post ASAP.

Ran into Jessica Ransehausen, US, Chef d'equippe and Shelly Francis. The US team is happily settled in after a two day over land haul from Donaueschingen.  

Will bring emails to deliver tomorrow. 

Everything is fine, Rome is ancient, traffic is interesting.   The people are friendly, the atmosphere is friendly.
