George Theodorescu Riding master George Theodorescu has died at the age of 81 of a stroke. George Theodorescu had an internationally successful career as a dressage rider and known as one of the best dressage trainers of the world. His daughter and best known student, Monica Theodorescu participated with their horses Ganimedes and Grunox in three Olympic Games and won with the German Dressage Team gold medals. With the help of her father, Monica developed the new generation horse, Whisper, in the last few years with Olympic hopes. With Whisper, she competes on the German team for the European Dressage Championships at the end of of August in Turin, Italy. George
Theodorescu was born on October 1, 1925 in Romania. He competed in the
1956 Stockholm Olympic Games on the Romanian dressage team. Three years
later he did not return to romania from the CHIO Aachen but started a second
career in Germany as dressage rider and as a trainer / instructor. In
1996, he was awarded the Golden German Rider Cross and in 2005 was honored
with the title Riding Master. The international dressage sport loses a
highly educated, humorous gentleman of old school with the studied lawyer
and interest as connoisseur of classical music. Beside his daughter, Monica,
he leaves his wife Inge, who was highly successful in their active time in
the dressage and jumping. |
