Elisabeth Austin & Mrs. B
Liz's first pony.

Elisabeth Austin's first pony, Mrs. B.  She was 27, and "hell on wheels." We got her when I was one 1/2 and she was nine- we saved her, she was a "lab rat" at New Bolton. She used to dump me every day, I loved her!

She was 9 hands tall -) I rode her until I was 3. She found great amusement in trying to run me through the fence. She was also very good at rearing, and when she retired from being a "riding"pony, she became a trick pony. If you said, "Up B"and held your hand up, she would rear. She learned it because my friend and I (we were 9 at the time) we trying to teach her how to piaffe in hand. She decided rearing was more fun, and we thought it was cooler, anyway- our own Lipizzan!

Mrs. B's Party Trick

She had her voice box removed at New Bolton so she had the most distinct hoarse whinny. . They were going to put her down when she was 9, but we saved her. And she had 18 happy, fat years. ;-) she was the best.

The first time I saw her, I yelled "BOBO!!!" (my word for horse at 1 1/2) and went tearing down the aisle and gave her a big bear hug. I think she hated me when I was little, I was always tormenting her, lol. But when I got older, we became good friends and I could say her name and she would nicker. She was basically retired after I stopped riding her. She was never really broke to ride.

Mrs. B was a dwarf. She had this huge head and tiny little legs, but MAN could she buck! A few years ago (1997), we had this party called a "White" party- where everyone dressed up in white (for my parents wedding). Mrs. B was, of course, invited because she was white, and my Stepdad thought it would be funny to sit on her. So, drink in one hand, he got on and wrapped his legs around her. She pitched him SO high in the air! The wedding photographer got the best picture of it.
