Sadly it was confirmed that Garth Harrison, Grand Prix rider and trainer, died unexpectedly at the age of 39, in South Africa, April 25. Garth competed internationally for South Africa but had resided in the US for 21 years. He was visiting his sister who has a wild game farm in a remote area when he became ill and was taken to the nearest medical clinic. Plans were to life flight him to a major hospital. Garth rode for South Africa, but had resided in the US for twenty years.

Memorial plans are incomplete but will be posted here as soon as received.

Garth had been my Dressage un Ltd celebrity chat guest before I met him in person. This soft spoken gentleman came up to our booth, gave me a hug and introduced himself. When his bid for a GMO basket won, he was as excited as a child opening Christmas gifts, and then, he had to figure out how to take his goodies home on the airplane.

We are planning a memorial service here at Hearthstone Farm (3548 State Route 54 Urbana, Ohio ) on Saturday May 12 in conjunction with the Stillwater HT. We are asking his friends to gather at about 4:30 PM to share pictures and stories of Garth. His brother, David and wife Debbie, will be here. We will have a special board near the scoreboards to hang the pictures. After a BBQ dinner, we have a memorial service.

We are planning a memorial wire sculpture & dressage show , with more details to be announced at the service.

Please place the word to all his friends. Everyone is invited.
