I got Bazil 7 years ago from a rescue organization. He had been abused as a rent stable horse when they took him. We figure he was somewhere in his 30's. He was a TB/something and was a tough old bird. This year his various health problems were starting to take the zip out of him though. He didn't sweat anymore, had missing teeth and needed mashes (he was getting frustrated at not being able to eat much hay) his left hip was bad and he had trouble getting up from that side, kept getting those sinus infections, needed daily psyllium to keep from getting diarrhea....
My vet and I had been discussing that we might be getting close to the end.

I keep telling myself that he was spoiled for the last 7 years of his life (even had his own Rambo rain sheet!) so hopefully that made up for some of the abuse he suffered.

I feel better today ....I know he's running and playing with my other horses across Rainbow Bridge.
