May 20, 2006 Focus official receives his Legion of Honor!

Well, we're all exhausted but we're now home safe. Mother Nature was not kind to the first show of the season. Everything from winds, lightning, thunder and huge down pours...not to mention an under water dressage arena. Between rain storms, we only got in a 15 minute warm up for each test.
FRIDAY:
TL4 (1st place) 66.538% Rode in a thunder storm with lightning near by.
FR1: (3rd place) 60.000% Forgot my test and had to halt and ask the judge for directions (a little unraveled by riding the pervious test in the storm). Good for a two point deduction. Rode this test conservative due to a now even more water and slop from the storm. Judge wanted more activity. Sport Horse Under Saddle (2nd place) Felt lucky to have a decent ride.

The weather messed up the schedule so we rode in the indoor at 9:00pm at night. Focus has never been shown in a indoor lit up like a candlestick. Shadows, announcer booths and echoes. Had to warm up in the dark, outside. None of the above has ever happened to me at a show...so I guess it all had to happen on the same day!!

Saturday:
The weather was pretty nice with just sprinkles and threats of rain but windy. Amazing that the dressage arena actually drained and was starting to dry out.
TR4 (3rd place) 64.615%
FR1 (1st place) 65.185%

At noon Focus got officially presented with his Legion of Honor. It really was a beautiful ceremony that attracted a crowd. Jason said there were some teary eyes among the spectators. Very nice to see this kind of support. This weekend I achieved my AHA Dressage Rider Award at First Level. The weekend was also good for 11 achievement award points. We are now working on our Legion of Supreme Honor.

That's the news. I'm off to bed. Sheree

June, 2005.

In preparation for the East Coast Championships, Diane (Sheree's Trainer) and Focus did their first show yesterday. WOW is the only comment I can make. Focus and Diane looked super awesome. Focus made not one mistake in either tests. Focus has not been to a show in 8 months but acted liked he did it everyday.

We got him a stall this year so he could relax between tests. He was super with all those strange horses around. He had never been stalled at a horse show before. Another little preparation for the Championships since we'll be there for 3 days.

Training Level Test 4: 70.769% (First)
Training Level Champion

First Level Test 1: 70.741% (Second)

Great to have a confidence building show before the championships :)
