Ned CDI*** at Arnheim     6/17-6/21/98

Of course Anky van Grunsven put all efforts in winning the dressage competitions in her home country. Though she rode Gestion Bonfire into the first position in the freestyle with music before Sven Rothenburger, who also started for Holland, she really had to fight for her victory in the Grand Prix special. Three of the five judges didn't see her on the winner's step but Nadine Capellmann-Buffar with her westphalian 'Farbenfroh.

New Dressage event presented at the CSI Nörten-Hardenberg

Additional to the jumping competitions the organizers of the CSI set up a dressage competition as a first night event that promises to become another highlight in the list of popular dressage competitions. Carl Count of Hardenberg had the idea for a dressage competition wher german trainers and teachers could compete with their fellow techers from foreign countries. Special handicap in this 'Intrenational Dressage Trainer's Club Trophy'  are the finals, which have to be ridden like jumping finals - riders have to change horses. But before reaching this point the competing trainers have to get through a Grand Prix and a short Grand Prix test. The best three in these tests then have to compete in a short version Grand Prix with each horse of their competitors with only 5 minutes for preparations.
So one could watch Rudolf Zeilinger with the stallion Ti amo Trocadero, the belgian Arlette Holsters on the maire Faible and the local hero Christoph von Daehne on Hardenberg Gigolo. During the 5 minutes of preparation discussuins with spectators and some dressage-professionals such as Jean Bemelmanns and Holger Smezer made it  quite interesting and the visitors learned something about dressage in general.
With a total scoring of 4,046 for three rounds on different horses Christoph von Daehne put himself into the leading position. Second was Rudolf Zeilinger (4,007) and third position was for Arlette Holsters (3,902). Her experienced mare Faible appears to be the the easiest to handle for each competitor, while Zeilinger's stallion Ti amo Trocadero prved to be pretty difficult in riding, resulting in the lowest scoring for each rider.
