von Blixen-Finecke will be doing a 5 day dressage clinic in Woodland, California (near
Davis) Oct. 14-18. There are still a few riding spots available. 45 minute private lessons
cost $85 if you are a USCTA member or $95 if you're not (the clinic is sponsored by USCTA
because that's the only way I could find to get affordable insurance; anyone know of any
other source?). Auditors are welcome, and auditing is free. If you want any more

- I manage a twice a year clinic with Baron von Blixen-Finecke.
The Baron is the author of two books, THE ART OF RIDING and THE ART OF TRAINING. He also
has a video series called THE ART OF RIDING. He was originally from Sweden, where he was
the head of Stromsholm when it was the Swedish Cavalry school, for many years. He's now
retired and lives in England. In 1952, he won the Olympic 3-day gold medal, and a horse he
had trained, ridden by St. Cyr, won the dressage gold (Sweden wouldn't let the Baron ride
in both disciplines).
He generally comes to the United States in the Spring and the Fall, doing clinics in
California, Oregon and Alabama. This Fall's California clinics are Oct. 14-18 in Woodland
(near Davis), and Oct. 30-Nov. 2 at Osierlea in San Juan Bautista. I'm the contact person
for the Woodland clinic. Liz Searle ((831) 623-4446) is the person to talk to about the
Osierlea clinic. I don't have as good information for the other clinics, but I think that
he'll be in Applegate, Oregon (near Medford) from Oct. 20-23. The contact person there is
Kathy Everman ((541) 846-7786), in Salem Oregon from Oct. 25-28 (I thought I had a name
and phone number for that one too, but I don't seem to) and in Montgomery, Alabama from
Nov. 4-7 (I think the person there is Pam Barrow ((205) 991-6061).
Auditors are free. If people are interested in auditing, I'll send them a schedule and
directions by email.
