The best were
saved for last as Ferro was followed by Rusty, then Farbenfroh, Invasor
and Beauvalais. Ferro is back in top form. Rusty and Ulla
Salzgeber put in an almost flawless performance and exited to cheers,
cadenced clapping and even foot stomping --- noise level only increased
when her 78.84% score was posted. Farbenfroh had a couple of
mistakes that would have ruined any one else's score, but his brilliance
kept him in 2nd with 77.40%. Invasor put in a great ride with a
couple of minor miscues - canter depart instead of passage. Rafael
Soto was very pleased with his ride. Team mate, Beatriz Ferrer-Salat
and Beauvalais were flawless for the last ride, finishing third behind
only Rusty and Farbenfroh.
Earlier in the
day, Nikolaus and Guenter Seidel took the lead briefly with 71.80% topping
fellow American Lisa Wilcox and Relevant who had a few stallion moments
including halting instead of piaffing on the final center line. They
finished 11th with 70.48%.
Klaus
Husenbeth, riding individually, and Piccolino had a very correct
ride. The horse shows proper training and is a delight to
watch. They finished 10th.
