All these
horses possess the 3P’s of Grand Prix dressage: Piaffe, Passage,
and Pirouettes. That’s how they made it this far. But the
Freestyle demands Performance as well. Also, timing, fluidity, and
Pizzazz.
Watching these performances,
the accomplishments do not look easy, any more than watching
Baryshnikov sail through the air, defying time and space.
No. Hard work is required to achieve such
effortless performance , and it shows in the condition of the
horses, the look in the riders’ eyes…
But in the world of dressage, there can be fewer
places to play for such high stakes—and so enjoy the triumphs—than
at Aachen, truly The Best of The Best.
