Aachen Selected by The
World's Best Riders
for Olympic Quarantine
9 Nations Have Selected Aachen
For the riders, the project
"Olympic Games" already begins long before the Games themselves
start. The horses have to spend about three weeks in quarantine before
they go to Sydney, where that must spend another two weeks in quarantine.
For the quarantine before Australia,
a great number of Olympic riders have chosen the show grounds of the
Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein to stable their horses from August 4th
until their departure between August 20th and 24th.
So far about 55 dressage, jumping and eventing horses have chosen Aachen.
During this period, the complete stable area will be blocked-off and
strangers will not be allowed to enter the quarantine area.
Guests will be, among others, the
Belgian jumping riders, ex. Ludo Philipaerts. During the preparations for
the Olympic Games, the Belgian riders will be trained by Nelson Pessoa
(Brazil). And also the Italian jumping rider Jerry Smit, Joe Tury (HUN) as
well the dressage riders Pia Laus (ITA), Marietta Almasy (FRA) and the
Australian Kristey Oatley-Nist will make use of the fantastic
possibilities in Aachen. The Spanish team will even arrive with all their
horses for the three disciplines. Furthermore, jumping horses from China,
Japan and Kasachstan and dressage horses from Russia are expected.
