CHIO Aachen - It is not only a question of honour to win at the "World Equestrian Festival" in Aachen. With the prize-money totalling DM 2.163.450 ($1,051,675 US) the CHIO Aachen remains the equestrian event with the highest prize-money world wide. In the jumping competitions DM 1.551.600 ($754,250 US) are distributed during the six days of the event, DM 388.350 ($188,781 US) in dressage and DM 223.500 ($108,645 US) in driving competitions.
For many years it has been the policy of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein (ALRV) not only to pay a high prize-money to the winners of the different competitions, but also to think about the other competitors who place in the top six. "The world's absolute top riders and drivers take part in Aachen and, therefore, anyone being placed fifth or sixth of a competition has also performed extremely well. For this reason it has always been our wish that not only the winner receives a high prize-money, but that also the placed riders and drivers are well rewarded", explains Frank Kemperman, manager of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein (ALRV). For example the "Prize of Aachener und Münchener Versicherungen - The Grand Prix of Aachen" is awarded with a total of DM 413.400, of which the winner receives DM 100.000. The "Mercedes-Benz-Prize - Nations' Cup" with a total prize-money of DM 351.000 is the highest awarded Nations' Cup in the world. The winning team alone receives DM 90.000.
