Liselott
Schindling-Rheinberger Linsenhoff No doubt that she was the "Grande Dame" of the German dressage sport. Last August, Liselott Schindling-Rheinberger, better known as Liselott Linsenhoff, died at the age of only 71 years. She deserved well of the German equestrian sport, not only as a sportswoman but also as a functionary and patron. On behalf of the City of Aachen, the Lord Mayor Dr. Jürgen Linden, will honour Liselott Schindling-Rheinberger posthumously with the "Prize of the City of Aachen" Liselott Schindling-Rheinberger (born on August 27th, 1927, died on August 4th, 1999) was one of the world´s best dressage riders from the mid fifties until the mid seventies. In 1956, she took part at the Olympic Games for the first time and won team-silver and individual bronze on Adular. This bronze-medal had always been the most important medal for her, which she valued even more than the gold-medal she won as the first woman ever at the Olympic Games in Munich 1972. Her long list of success includes the title of German Champion (1971), two individual gold-medals (1969, 1971), one silver-medal (1973) as well as three titles with the team at European Championships, two individual silver-medals (1970 and 1974) at World Championships and team-gold and team-silver. In 1955 and 1956, she also won the "Grand Prix Dressage of Aachen" on Adular. Olympics
In 1975, Liselott Schindling-Rheinberger ended her active career. But until 1996, as a member of the DOKR-Dressage-Committee, she was one of the decisive persons for the German dressage sport. As a circumspect and generous patron of the German dressage riders she had an immense influence on their success. More than 20 years, she accompanied the German dressage team as the Chef d’Equipe. In preparation to all important tournaments, the equipe met on her estate "Gut Schafhof" in Kronberg/Taunus. This tradition has been followed by her daughter Ann-Kathrin Kroft, herself Olympic Champion with the team in 1988. The German dressage riders will have their quarantine station at the Schafhof this year before the Olympic Games in Sydney.
